Hum Noise

Hi all, i need a little help with a problem i have recently,

I have a D&R Orion and it had a bit hum noise, but nothing worrying. Recently i changed my old unbalanced cables to a balanced snake, and now the hum is really noisy!

I have no problems recording throug my Manley pre, but when i´m trying to mix appears the hum. So here´s a few notes:

* the hum is present both in speakers and my master recorder ( it even gets " signal ", being a problem in very quiet acoustic songs ). So i have hum in master output and in control room output.
* Some channels are more noisy than others. A couple of them are unnoisy, and a couple, terrybly noisy.
* When i connect other gear ( compressors... ) to the D&R, the hum increases
* I cant remember if the electrical installation has " land hook up ". I think it has
* I have many devices connected to the same electrical line
* I cant remember sifnficant hum with my old unbalanced cables
* The new ones balanced cables are hand soldered by a friend ( suppose to be in good condition and enough ability )

So, the problem comes

* Maybe the electrical line?
* Maybe uncorrect soldering?
* Maybe i have to make some revision in my desk? Any component need to be replaced?
* Maybe i have to buy a good quality professional snake? wich one is better?

Thanx in advance!

Hey,

I had a very similar thing going on. Hum/buzz from my analog console, powered monitors and other gear. I bought a power conditioner and it REALLY helped. I happened to buy a Monster conditioner, though, Furman makes some great stuff. The unit I got cleans the power going into the unit and has seperate circuits for "digital" gear,"analog" gear & "powered" gear. Decent and relatively inexpensive.

This is the unit I have. It is made by Monster. http://www.monstercable.com/pro_audi...%20Pro%20Power

An LED on the front tells you the voltage coming in and how many amps your system is drawing.
