I found this link on another forum, and was quite impressed with the sound quality compared to all the other amp modellers I've come across so far. http://www.simulanalog.org/guitarsuite.htm It's VST PC only, which sucks, because I'm using a Mac. Anyway, some guy posted a few sound files he recorded, but for some reason I can't directly link to the clips, but if you go to his page you'll find a bunch of mp3s when you scroll down a little bit. They're called "VST-plugineilla.mp3" Enjoy! |

If used tastefully, then I think these are probably the best emulations out. And, they're free. ![]() I think they are best limited to a reamp situation. Steve www.mojopie.com |

Agreed! It dfegad on the Pod and everything else Line 6 has made so far. It's obviously not quite there yet, but if you mix a touch of it with a miced guitar speaker signal, I imagine one could achieve some neat results with it. They should come up with a mac version and a JCM 800 emulation, though! |

I downloaded the plugin and played with it for a bit. When I listened to the guy's clips I was really impressed. But then when I actually tried it myself I was less enamored. It had a plastic kind of sound. But then I realized it was a JCM900 emulation. Doh! They managed to do an excellent job modeling an amp that sounds like poo. I was very uninspired by the Twin plugin. I don't know what those kids used. Someone should hook them up with some decent sounding amps that people actually enjoy playing. The stomp boxes were cool though.Brad |

I know what you mean! The spent probably a lot of time writing some software to emulate a shitty amp - what a shame! We can't really blame them though, since I had to use JCM 900s quite a few times on various festivals, and from what I recall, they nailed their sound pretty much. The JCM 900 sounds artificial by nature! |

Yeah, it is a bit of divine justice that they didn't model a JCM800 rather than the JCM900. Steve www.mojopie.com |

You know I have been playing with this software for a couple days now, and I must say I have not gotten anything astounding for guitar. *BUT* For bass these plugins are pretty damn cool. Beez |

I downloaded those plugs quite a while ago, and can state the following: 1) The Twin model is pretty good for cleaner tones. Hit it with a distorted signal, and your low-mid hearing won't thank you. Knocky as hell; way more knocky than the real thing. 2) The JCM900 model sounds just like the real thing, for what that's worth. If you record a lot of shitty nu-metal bands, you might find a use for it. The problem with both these models is that there is no method for mic placement. 3) Of the pedals, the Tube Screamer is okay, but you really have to nail it at the input to get it to actually do its thing. That's obviously a problem in the digital environment. You can skip the other three pedals. 4) Finally, I'm guessing that these are tests of modelling concepts and not tests of the programmer's skill at making a VST plugin. They're buggy as hell, although I can't pin down any particular instance where I know that a combination will cause your host to crash. It's happened several times to me, though. While I'm an avid PC user, I'm also a VST and VSTi developer, and I can say with conviction that once you've made the plugin for PC, especially one without a GUI, it really is just a matter of recompiling to make a Mac version. I guess, to make a long story short, I wasn't impressed. Don't believe the hype. -Chris Randall |

| LePou Plugins: SoloC v1.12 Let me know what you think of these. I've heard some samples. Sounds pretty awesome. Of course, this doesn't have cabinet simulation, but I think this guy has designed some. Maybe just tweaking the eq could help. |
