Thread Starter | Marshall Plexi Problem...help!?
Every time I replace the mains fuse (T2A) on my 50 watt Plexi reissue and switch it on, it lights up for 1-2 seconds then blows the fuse. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Is there anything I can try before I send it out to get checked out? I hate being without it!

You've golt a short or close to short in the b+ circuitry- DEFINITELY get it fixed before trying to use the amp further(!)

It happened to my with my '69 plexi superbass. Get it checked out by expert. Too nice of an amp to be (&*ing around with unless you really know you're stuff.

most likely a dead B+ cap. any semi competent tech can replace it, just get a cap with the same yF/V preferably a better quality. no need to contact marshall to get it, try: http://www.tubesandmore.com/ |

I've repaired hundreds of Marshall tube amps and rarely is there a shorted cap of any kind. But there are just too many things that can be wrong to be guessing before a tech sees it. Definately take 'er to an amp repair tech. They'll find the problem. Rick | |

My JMP50 was cutting in and out and just humming when it cut out. I just brought it in and had new tubes put in and a full tune up. Turns out there was a bad tube socket that they replaced, I think it was shorting out. Sounds like a million bucks again.

If it has a rectifier tube, try replacing that first.
