Heed Canamp - Can of Worms ?

Hello,

I am looking for a new headphone monitoring solution. I have been using someone else's AGK K701s for some time to my satisfaction, and I am considering buying the AKG K702s now.

Is is worth getting a good headphone amp like the much praised Heed Canamp ?

Is the Heed Canamp good for mixing music ?

Are there alternatives ?

Some opinions please.

Thanks

I have the Heed Canamp and the 701's. It drives them beautifully. I don't mix on headphones, but reference on them. My old Duet would not drive the 701's well. However my ULN-8 has a very nice headphone output. Consequently, I don't even switch over to the Heed anymore. Keep in mind the 701's although having an amazing soundstage and midrange are a bit shy in the bass for mixing. You can get use to that. The Heed amp is very well rated and sounds excellent.
