Tube Amp Diagnosis

I have a mesa solo 50 i use in conjunction with a THD Hotplate, its been working fine for a while now. But the other night while I was trying to find some tones and in the middle of playing it just stopped producing sound.
This is my first tube amp so im not well versed in all the problem's tube amps have and how to diagnose them. After reading the manuel, the tubes don't seem to be doing anything strange (visually) and there isn't any odd noise coming from the amp... no noise at all really. Also I had the THD attenuating quite a bit so I doubt the problem has anything to do with the speakers. The only thing I noticed is that once the standby switch is turned off the tubes would have a little bit of blue glow near the tops... and after researching on line I found out this was fine. Does anybody have any ideas what happened??

...I have a feeling its going to be expencive!

It's very hard, next to impossible to diagnose situations like this via the web. My best advice is to take it to the local repair shop and see what they say about it.

Check fuses.

Replace all the tubes.

Take to a repair shop- in that order.

No sound at all? Not even a little hiss? Check the speaker or the speaker wires, connectors, etc.

<edit> You can check the speaker by FIRST removing the speaker wires and THEN hold a 9v battery across the speaker connector poles for just a second. It should make a pop ound. If not, she's blown. Dismount it and take it to a speaker reconer to have fixed. Sometimes it's just one of the wires leading to the coil and needs to be resoldered.

Amp repairs aren't all that expensive. I've never had an amp need more than 4 hours of work. They are normally pretty simple inside.

But at the same time, welcome to the world of tubes. Shit does blow up.
