1979 Carvin s1200 Mixer

I signed up to this forum after finding very little about this mixer I just purchased, hoping to get some opinions on it and perhaps advice for use. Bad idea, right? Well, it was in perfect functioning condition and very cheap... It's a 1979 Carvin s1200 mixer.

I was thinking about using it as a pre amp for my M-Audio 2626 to get some vintage-y/analog color to my recordings and adding gain for my SM7 and ribbon mics. Does this seem like a good idea? Thanks in advance!

there are some strange outputs on this thing. you have to pull the 1/4" half way out in order for it to work as an output, otherwise it's an input. each channel has one of these though, which made me think that i could use it for this purpose.

it doesn't strike me as noisy, though not pristine, the signal is fairly clear. what do you mean by headroom? as in having a lot of gain?

the halfway in thing makes me think those are insert points on the channel. You should get some insert cables (TRS in to two TS) cables and that should work.
