Thread Starter | 1979 Carvin s1200 Mixer
I signed up to this forum after finding very little about this mixer I just purchased, hoping to get some opinions on it and perhaps advice for use. Bad idea, right? Well, it was in perfect functioning condition and very cheap... It's a 1979 Carvin s1200 mixer. ![]() The Carvin Museum - 1979 S1200 12 Channel Mixer I was thinking about using it as a pre amp for my M-Audio 2626 to get some vintage-y/analog color to my recordings and adding gain for my SM7 and ribbon mics. Does this seem like a good idea? Thanks in advance!

there are some strange outputs on this thing. you have to pull the 1/4" half way out in order for it to work as an output, otherwise it's an input. each channel has one of these though, which made me think that i could use it for this purpose. it doesn't strike me as noisy, though not pristine, the signal is fairly clear. what do you mean by headroom? as in having a lot of gain? |

the halfway in thing makes me think those are insert points on the channel. You should get some insert cables (TRS in to two TS) cables and that should work. B |
