MC77 vs Mofet76 (after the honeymoon)

** I have read all threads already and decided to post this because it's been awhile since the mofet76 has been out **

So I'm looking at picking one of these bad boys up and wanted to see what everyone's take is that has experience with them, especially the mofet.

Which do you feel is better and why?

Thanks

I have a Mofet, I love it. It does what I expected it to do. I'd like the line on the knobs indicating position on the bottom instead of the top (easier to reset), but it's not that big of a deal.

Never heard the MC77.

We stock and sell both, and they are both in the Clipalator very fairly compared. You can hear audio and see videos demoing both.

I have listened to those clips. It actually throws me for a loop more as I have heard great things about the Mofet and have heard that the MC77 is a little bright. By the clips (and hope it's just not me) the mofet sounds brighter then the mc77. I also think the MC77 sounds a little tighter. errrrrr tough decision but know I won't go wrong with either, just want the best for my money.

What setting is on the MoFET?

On the clip check to see if the MoFET is on the Edcor or the Carnhill setting. The Edcor gives about a 6 dB boost and is brighter (hairyer?) than the Carnhill. That may be some of it.

We have 2 mohogs and one MC77. They are both great boxes. I tend to use the 77 for lead or solo instruments that I want to sit in the mix but shine. The mohogs are more flexible. The switchable trannies make a big difference. The carnhills are much thicker sounding, so I'll use them more on drums for instance.

One thing I'll mention is that both my mohogs have a fair bit of self noise. I think they could have done a better job isolating the PSU somehow.
