Any one have insights into recording of 'The Seal Beach Ep' by The Album Leaf?

Wondering if there are any 'The Album Leaf' fans on here who might have some insights into the making of 'The Seal Beach Ep'. I believe some of it was recorded in Iceland courtesy of Sigur Ros but would love to know what type of equipment was used.

I am very interested in how it was tracked and what type of console was used to mix the record. It is such a warm balance of organic and electronic, I can't stop listening to it!

Thanks for any info.

I believe that there was a Tape Op article last year that spoke about The Album Leaf recording at Sigur Ros' studio. That might be a good place to start.

Pretty sure for his guitar sound it's a fender strat through a tube fender amp (not sure which exactly). He tracks into cakewalk i think (I read the article awhile ago). I do know he uses fruity loops and layers the programmed beats with reason for that a sporadic IDM feel. He's also a big fan of moogs and I believe uses a mini moog for most of the synth sounds.

Thanks Jomo, I'm gonna try and track that down. I got into the album late so probably missed any press that may have been around the release.

Thanks Gnarls. Cakewalk and Fruityloops? Really?! He's gotta be running through an analog console or some outboard gear at some point. I know the Rhodes is a staple but the beats are so 'warm' and the stereo imaging on his mixes are great.

I did see an article in tape-op last year about a band that recorded at Sigur Ros' studio, but it wasn't the album leaf. It was some band with like a three letter name of some other icelandic band or something.

Wait, no... they used Sigur Ros' Neve and some other stuff and recorded in some shanty of a shack on a rocky penninsula in the ocean and supposedly you can hear the wind howling and they mic'd up drums through different amps and mic'd those and all sorts of clever things.

I never did hear the record though...

Hopefully it's not the same article, though, and there's one on the album leaf too
