Problems with Line6 POD xt Pro and AES/EBU Connection to Pro Tools HD

Hi all,

I have connected my Line 6 POD xt Pro to one of the Digidesign 192 I/O Interfaces via AES / EBU (the Digital Card.) The POD does not work, because it says "cannot lock to input".
It does not find any Clock in the AES EBU Stream.
I have tested the SPDIF Connection with the POD, that is OK.
Then I tested a TC Electronic FireworX that is hooked up to another AES EBU Channel on the same 192, and it works fine on the POD´s Channels.
It´s not a Problem of PT or wrong connections, it is definitely a problem of the POD.

I would like to know if anyone here has hooked up a POD xt Pro to Pro Tools digitally via AES EBU, and if anyone knows these Problems?

I´ll call Line 6 on Monday, but anyways!

Thanks, Andi

PODxt Pro Output

Andi...

Check your Digital Output page on the PODxt Pro. FORMAT should be set to MATCH AES, and DIGOUT should be set to AES. Good luck.

this is exactly my setting.
it does not work with these settings, neither does it with any others.
SPDIF works, but AES not.

Pro Tools is correct, all other units work, even on the Channels I use for the POD.

Thanks!!

Hi Andi,

I messed around with this a while ago.
Do you have 2 x XLR cables connected (input to output, output to input)?

I had issues with the POD PRO XT not staying locked to my 96IO.
I'm not at the studio now so cannot check but I don't think the Pod has wordclock.
I always found when I A/B'ed the AES output vs the analog output that the analog
In the end I went back to using the Pod Pro XT via analog outputs.

How are you finding it anyway?

I mostly use my tube amps for recordings, but for quick sounds they are great.
'The Powerball' amp model is killer for hi gain sounds.

If you don't have it- definitely get 3 expansion packs.
Particularly the effect/synth stuff- it is great for all sorts of uses, guitars, vocals, drums- everything.

I have connected IN and OUT properly.
If I plug a TC Fireworx onto the POD´s Channels, it works.
This shows me that the setup is correct.
The POD does not work on any AES Connection.
It does work via SPDIF, but that´s not how I want it to use, since i have 8 Channels of AES and only 2 SPDIF, and I need the 2 SPDIF for another unit.

I checked all combinations of settings in the PDO, and I am familiar with all this stuff, but it just does not work.

What can be done???????

Thanks, Andi

it´s working!
I found out, the POD doesn´t like one of my AES EBU Channels...
I have no idea why, since the Channel works with other units, but the Pod is working on other Channels, so I replugged everything.
