CHEAPEST way to rack API style 500 series modules?

Does anyone know of the lowest cost rack for API ‘style’ 500 series modules… you know the API 512s, 550s, 560, Averill clones, OSA, Purple Audio, etc.?

I already have a few 6 space lunch boxes and a 4 space, but am wanting the 10 or 11 space rack style.

As far as I can tell, OSA 11 space power rack is the lowest price way to go at $ 699.00

The Averill 11 space rack is around $ 829.00

The API rack at 10 spaces can totally f_u_c_k off at around $ 1,325.00

If anyone has any input or tips, please let me know!

I would say go with the OSA. A buddy of mine has that and he loves it.
I do not know of any other 500 series options that are cheaper than that. My buddy bought his off of eBay so take a look.

I can't comment on the OSA but I recently got a BAE 11 space lunchbox and the build quality is excellent. It really does fill me with confidence that it will last a life time.

OSA is the cheapest. And as soon as we have the money (hopefully soon ) we're going to order the 11 space frame.

If it was me I would go with the BAE, more money but worth it IMHO.
IM not a big fan of Switching supplies..
My .02 cents...
You may also want to keep this in mind; new API modules used in another supply may void the warranty...

True, it is supposed to void the warranty if the modules are in another box other than API, but how are they going to ever know? You have an issue with the module and you send it to them for repair. They're never going to want the whole box. Just don't fess up that they're in another box.

e...
this reminded me of building my first computer and looking for a cheap case before the cool case days. When I asked the IT guy, he paused then suggested, just throw it all in your desk drawer....LOL! That was the cheapest case ever!

I've had a Brent Averill rack (6 spaces) and his power supply has been turned ON for the last 9 years. Totally solid, reliable, and in my mind worth the few extra dollars.

since you have some lunchboxes, and you're in the mood for rackmount, you're not gonna get it cheaper than the OSA deal.

Are you getting more modules or taking the ones out of your existing racks?

I second the deal about API and how they're gonna know you mixed their gear with other gear. That'd be some pretty heavy forensics just for warranty work.

BTW, API has been amazing about warranty work on modules I bought used. Three for three now.

Are there any 6+ racked lunchbox-type solutions that's not API for us euroslutz at 220V? Just ordered two 550b's and would like to get them a home, but seems the OSA racks are not available at 220V. Eight racked slots would be nice.

Anyone?

OK, Old School Audio it is! I ordered one up from Nathan at Atlas Pro Audio.

The service seems cool and you can't beat the price! $729 with shipping

wow, didnt know that. im looking for 500 rack myself, and was eyeing OSA. but coming from synth world, i've learned to steer clear from switching psu.

so BAE and API use a linear psu then?

thanks

In the past, the PS was not included, but it currently is.

$830 for a 10 slot API is certainly not a bad deal. If you are racking the unit, it looks much better than some of the other rack units that tend to look somewhat like ass.
