Vocal recording --- mic&pre!

I will buy my first mic and first pre next month, so I have been reading hundreds of messages and of course, the opinion of my favourite sales man, and for the moment I have to choose between:

Option A - Vintagedesign M81D + Violet Black Knight
Option B - Avalon 737 SP + AKG 414B-XL
Option C - Avalon 737 SP + Blue Baby Bottle

It would be nice if you could help me to choose between these options, my budget is between 1500€-2000€, and if you have any other idea... write it PLEASE :)

Just used your option B tonight and I did not like it that much. Although the 414 sounded better than the TLM 103. I still would look at other preamps, unless you are trying to record people then the Avalon would help you get one or two more clients,

if you have been reading for months on this board, I doubt you would have come to the 737 as yoru pre of choice in that price range... the reason it's the opinion of your favorite salesman is b/c it's pretty and he sells them instead of recording with them. I love the avalon, but looking back, would I buy it if I had 2k layign around? ABSOLUTELY NOT I have a 2 mile long list of pre's that I'd buy befoore that.

Agreed. I doubt you will find a big number of engineers that would recomend the 737 in that price point. Get an A Designs Pacifica.

I love the Buzz Ma2.2 for clean and big sounding vocals
They go very well with transforemerless mics (like AT 4050)

I love the 737 with tube mics and ribbons. Not my favorite with ss mics.
