"Thank You" was just an Organ-probably a Hammond, and "No Quarter" was a Fender Rhodes. "No Quarter" also has a Piano solo in the middle. Note that "No Quarter" was actually recorded and played by Led Zeppelin in D Minor (half step higher than House Of The Holy sounds), and Page slowed the tape machine down to achieve the C#minor pitch. This obviously affected the tone of the Rhodes, Plant's vocals, etc. There were also obvious delay FX as well. Great tracks that still sound fantastic today! Wade |

From what I've read JPJ used Hammond C3 to record Thankyou with a tape delay for the room effect… No Quarter is much stranger. He used a Hohner Electra-Piano, not to be confused with an RMI Electra Piano. He ran this though a EMS VCS3 filter to get the bubble effect. A pianet through a chorus or rotary sim would do the trick however. |
