Awwwww man.... that's not cool.

I can guarantee... that if Chuck endorses it... that he uses it.. and has found it to work for him in his endeavors. Listen to his records. I think he is doing amazing work.

Why don't you go check one of those presonus' out. I don't know what unit he is endorsing... but I know I love their central station (for the money). Maybe he found a cheap pre for a mobile rig or laptop or something that is perfect for his scratchpad stuff. Or Maybe Presonus pulled an FMR and turned out a really killer pre for less than they usually go for. At any rate, Chuck is a first rate guy and shame on you for trying to dis him......

I think Chuck is one of the most wonderful people I know. He has a lot of gear. And he buys a lot of gear. And he doesn't just sell his name. If he has an endorsement deal with somebody then he is really using that gear.

Don't be dissing Chuckie!

He's in ad's for the Presonus ADL 600. Which happens to be a real serious pro killer mic pre.

Yup, yup, yup. True.... and how can you fault the guy! He has the distinction of being the only pro audio endorser that has used his water ski-ing prowess to sell gear!!! Gotta be happy when the good guys win... and do it in their own unique way!!!

Chuck is the shit. He uses presonus, vintech, nuendo, etc. The point is, it doesn't matter what chuck uses. Cause he's either mixing on George Martin's Focusrite, an SSL, or something else that few of us have access to. And above all things, he records some of the finest musicians on the planet. And did I mention he's the shit?

Anyone here heard Mark Knophler's Shangri-La? Biggest bottom end, EVER!!! When ever I think I'm doing good, or I start to get a big head about my stuff, I put that record in and cry my little eyes out.

Its not meant to diss Mr. A but I was extremely dissapointed in Shangri-La! Its got the worse low end I ever heard! Way overblown! Listen to other Mr. Knophler's recordings. Maybe something happened in the mastering stage? I bought the CD without listening so much I trust Mark Knophler an Chuck Ainley. Something failed on this one.

Another artist I buy on sight is Robben Ford. One of his last "Supernatural" was very natural and dynamic sounding. His last CD however is LOUD and harsh sounding and actually has several moments of irritating distortion!

How can people that are involved in such high quality let something so obviously not, out in the world?

The music however is still great on both Cds.

It was Chuck that thought of asking Al Schmit, Elliot Schiener, Frank Fillapetti, Ed Chearney and George Massenburg to join him here as special guests when I ask him to be one. Dude's cool.

You have any idea that the Presonus/ADL is by all counts a high end machine?

Is this a campaign to persuade top recording engineers to not come here?

You know, as the thread starter, you can delete this whole thing.

Hint hint.

Your response is surprising. However, you are entitled to your opinion and I respect that. Rock on, brother!

If your refering to the ADL 600, it is NOTHING like the VMP2. It completely destroys it. I had a vmp2 I have an ADL 600 and alot of other very nice pre's. It has become
one of my favorites, the other being my API.

After that quote I had to relisten to that CD again When I popped in the CD I was very surprised with the low end of the first track. I thought it was a bit too much - a lot too much btw, but who cares
Though the rest of the CD was heavy on the bottom end but it was very nice - I wish my bottom end would sound like that

Chuck foooooooooooooreeeeeeeeeeeevaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

I second the hell out of that, Gearslutz doesn't exactly need any more "bat-lights" in the sky warning these guys of impending petty insults. It's a shame what's been gained, then lost around here.

Hmmmm.

A guy with serious audio chops and credits endorses gear made by a manufacturer that isn't cool enough for you to think is legit.

Two possibilities:

1. He does it insincerely because he doesn't have enough money or stuff yet, and he REAAAAAALLY NEEDS some free, lame gear. (Hint: Why does he want free gear that sucks?....... He doesn't.)

2. He really likes it and uses it, because he likes the way it sounds, regardless of who made it.

I'm thinkin' it's number 2.

If you were Presonus and you started a new, high end line that you were proud of, how would you go about convincing professional engineers to give it a try? Maybe you would get a few into the hands of leading engineers and see if they liked it? And if they did, you would get them to say so in an ad.

There are some gear pimps in ads, no doubt. But legitimate guys like Chuck generally have better things to do than endorse gear they have no use for.

"Shangri-La" Hands down one of my favorite albums and favorite recordings of all time. I never tire of it. Pure magic from a team of masterful artists. "Back to Tupelo" slays me.

And if you think the CD sounds good, wait until you hear the SACD. The SACD stereo mix is simply sublime and the 5.1 mix is tasteful and entertaining. Chuck is the man!
