oops, sorry to alarm you. it has just been "postponed".

"The UAD-8 I/O project has been shelved while we evaluate the viability of alternative I/O strategies that better suit the current DAW market, so please stay tuned for further announcements.

Universal Audio remains focused on our efforts of maintaining and enhancing our current products, as well as examining new and exciting product concepts and plug-ins. We are currently developing OS X support and are focused on our commitment to keeping the UAD-1 the most versatile and powerful DSP platform ever."

but this statement coming from developers who are notorious for constantly inching back release dates doesn't look very bright. It took about 8 months longer than initally declared for the cambridge plugin to ever get out to the masses if i recall correctly. either way i wouldn't get anxious for this one any time soon....

i really wish sintefex would make a dsp card based on their cool impulse modelling.

cheers!

The way I see it is look at their competiton. I could almost bet that they would develope some sort of firewire DSP box with the cards installed. Just like the new powercore box. No worries for cracks,chainable......etc. And if mackie were smart they would make a larger control surface with a mixer and UAD's included. 24 faders instead of 8 and dedicated eq,comps from UA? If it could control PT and other daws and have an ethernet connection like the control 24 and have mixing capabilities like the d8b I bet it would do well. Then buyout dangerous and stick their analog section in it.......yeah I am dreaming.

They shat a few bricks when they saw the new TC box and scrapped it.

Maybe they'll come with a firewire box too.

This is what happens when people start saying "use the search function" too often.
