I have a chance to get one of these at a great price. I played on it today and it sounds great, but has a little filter hum that should be easy for me to replace the filter can to fix.

What do ya'll think about these as a studio bass amp? Good nuff? Killer?

I use mine all the time. Mic it with an SM7 into an API. Stacks up pretty good against the DI for sure.
You will definitely want to change the filter caps, as well as the coupling caps. Be real careful with those tubes(7868?), I had a pair of those blow out on me and they took a couple resistors with them. The tech tried to get me to convert the amp to 6v6's, but I resisted the change.
That's a pretty cool guitar amp for some things too.
Is yours the B12N?

Although I didn't take the cover off, I peeked down in there and it looked like 6L6's...could been 7868's too...I didn't look that hard.

It only had 1 ch. so it must be an SB12. I hope it's not 7868's. They're harder to locate and more expensive.

I can get it less than 500, so as tube amps go, that's not bad.

I also heard they were pretty cool for guitar. Thanks for the mic tip too!

I used mine on a bunch of gigs for guitar, but yeah, you do have to be careful with it. don't try to carry it by the handle! It will stress the latches which also act as the speaker cable connectors.

Thanks for the replies! I think I'll get it when the funds arrive. Funny thing the salesman(a friend) told me is that it's been there a long time and nobody wants it! Time to haggle!
