What would be a good preamp For Synths?

The Great River Mp2-NV or the Grace 201? Is the Great River considered major color or just slight color? Also who thinks Grace would be a good pick?

I use my Grace 201 just about every day. But in terms of preamping a synth...it all depends on what I'm trying to accomplish. Usually a good clean preamp like the Grace will be just fine. But sometimes when I'm recording a rhodes or piano and I'm trying to dirty it up to make it a bit more real sounding, I'll use two different and more colored preamps.

I use the Great River all the time for synths as well as various Neve rackmounts from Brent Averill.

forget about the fact that it's for synths for a moment. what do you want your recordings to sounds like? any artists or records in particular?

great river is medium color to my ears, especially when pushed. not a grace, not a telefunken.

An RNP is a good choice for synths/keys...

And the Avalon 747, while not a pre-amp, is
(at least part of) a flexible front-end for keys...
