Trident Audio 8T - Toft 'Trident Series' ATB (SKAM)!!

As many of you might be aware PMI Audio have recently released a new mixer called the 'Trident Series ATB'. This mixer is infact nothing to do with Trident Audio themselves and is being sold under false pretenses.

The name ATB infact is derives from the EQ modules originally designed by John Oram, the Trident Audio designer, they are actually called the 80B.

If anyone has seen this product and likes the look of it I would suggest they visit www.tridentaudio.co.uk and have a look at the real Trident 8T mixer that is similarly priced and is designed by John Oram the original Trident designer.

I myself am nothing to do with Trident Audio and was interested in buying one of these consoles, I spoke to Alan Hyatt recently at a trade show he lied to me. I then found out about the real Trident mixer and also found out what was going on.

I think that the actions of PMI Audio and Alan Hyatt are disgusting. They are not only misleading the public making them think its a Trident mixing desk, they are also using Tridents name and have cheaply tried to replicate their designs.

How do you guys feel about this?

Hmmm.

I think you need to do a search for Malcolm Toft.

Best,

yeah but didnt toft and oram fall out when they parted company - i thought it was kinda like The Tyrells & the Hennessy's feud from The Big Country - toft designed alot of the 'original'

pmi are only the distributor for Toft and Toft was a main designer for trident and actualy Toft copyrighted the A series design in 1973 under his company, Trident Audio Developments Ltd, (Trident is now owned by Fletcher Electroacoustics)

so in fact isnt orams one the 'copy' in some respects? one of the boffins round here will know surely?

The only part of that desk that is rightfully Tofts's is the preamps the rest was originally designed by John Oram and is being used without his consent.

As for the Tools I keep them in the studio.

it appears that this IS the dealer.

What class, blatant muck-raking and slander against a competing product to one that you sell. I hope you weren't trying to get new customers by logging onto Gearslutz, in fact, you may have even lost some existing ones with these crass tactics

Sorry, but we have had enough of this on GS already. I do not think it's fair to either company that this discussion continues.
