Help me improve my signal chain

I want to improve the overall sound of my setup... but I'm unsure where to go. So I'm looking for some help/suggestions.

The only thing recorded through a mic in my setup are vocals. I use a rode nt1 mic and art tube mp pre for that. I also have a delta 44, event tr8xl monitors, mpc 1000, and I use cubase for recording. I plan on getting a control surface like project mix or mackie control soon. First thing I think I'm gonna improve are my cables. As far as any other preamps, ad/da converters, and such.... I'm confused. I need some guidance, thanks.

That's pretty common low end gear. My 2 cents would be to get a better preamp, that seems to be the least good link in your chain. Maybe a Groove Tubes Brick, a Grace or something.

You don't think a ad/da converter would be more sufficient? I don't even use my current preamp right now. Would a new one help? How?
