rough guide to pricing music and SFX?

Hi,

not sure if this is the right place to ask this but i've been asked to supply an ambient piece of music for a interactive flash animation as well as supplying some sound design (button sounds and transition style sounds) for a design company and i was wondering how do you guys price this? can anybody give me a rough idea on how much i should charge for this.

thanks in advance

Just don't undercharge yourself. Search online for companies that do this, and decide how much your work is worth compared to theirs.

Talk to the client and explain there are a couple of ways to do it - live players, samples, you play everything, you record foley fx etc - and that the cost varies depening on which way you go. Ask them what sort of appraoch they had in mind and see if you can feel out how much they want to spend. To some people music/sfx is wall paper, to others it is the most important thing in their piece.

If it's a copetetive submission just make sure you quote high enough to make it worth doing the job.
