Good Modern Double-Tracked Acoustic Guitar Albums?

Please could anyone suggest to me some modern songs/albums with good sounding double tracked acoustic guitars, I need some for reference recordings.

Cheers.

Don't know if they are double tracked or not but an Alison Krauss album would be a reasonable reference. Maybe someone here could give you an album title.

Check out the second Splender album ("to whom it may concern") mixed by Mike Shipley... there's a couple of songs on there with that modern Acoustic strummed sound. Sorry --- can't remeber the track names!

Not really double tracked but any of Ryan Adams more accoustic albums have some great production on them. Try Heartbreaker or 29 as reference.

Good Luck!

Mark.

I think "Jenny Wren" on the last Paul McCartney album has some.

Just about any Tony Rice recording is stereo. You'd be hard pressed to find Tony recording into a single mic.

Thanks very much guy's I will check out your suggestions.

I am looking for a slick, glossy, pop style sound on the acoustic guitar - I need to hear some nice stuff so that I can practice my production chops.

Don't forget our own Michael Wagener recorded a lovely-sounding track called Honesty off the latest King's X album Ogre Tones.

That Splender track is called The Lonliest Person I Know listen around 2 min 13 --- shiny pop rock

Not to start up the whole "performance vs production" argument, but perfect microphones and perfect placement won't do a thing for a crappy sounding guitar. The importance of a quality instrument can't be understated when it comes to acoustic guitars, mandolins, violins... You'll drive yourself crazy trying to get that Yamaha 12-string to sound like an old Martin.

Aside from that, I totally agree with the Ryan Adams and Tony Rice suggestions...

Any of Alison's recent 'mo pop than bluegrass' albums are spectacular examples of acoustic instrument recording IMO. The players ain't half bad either thumbsup

I think another great example of fine sounding AC gtr is Hayseed Dixie's Tribute to AC/DC. Fine f***in CD!
