Calliope / steam organ sounds, samples, cd-rom?

I have spent some time trying to find a keyboard that has a good calliope patch, or a cd-rom for calliope, with no luck. There is no way I can afford to buy one, and there is no one in my area I could rent one from. Anyone know of anything that sounds remotely like this...

This is just for a small part of a song, so I don't have much time or budget to spend on it.

Check the demo of American Heartland.

Thanks, I knew there had to be one out there somehwhere! It is hard to tell how good it is from that .5 second clip, have you ever used it?

I don’t have it. I hired a keyboard player for a session once who suggested it for a song and played it for me. It sounded realistic but it did not work for that particular track. As I recall, it came with several variations.

Nothing better to do this morning so I did a 'quick noodle' with the American Heartland calliope sample. There's also a pump organ with some cool noises and lots of pedal wheezing if you want that sort of thing.

If you're just looking for odd 'rustic' keyboards, there's also a wonderful big Wurlitzer Theatre Organ in the stock K2500 library. I've got it somewhere...

You may also want to post on the Northern Sounds Gigastudio forum. Lots of folks there would know about what libraries or public domain sources there are for such things. And while it's not calliope, the PMI "Historic Keyboards" sample collection has some nifty sounding stuff that can always add color to your tracks. Good luck.

Here's American Heartland Calliope, Pump Organ, then a Public Domain "open diapason" Organ, and then a crummy old Emu sample of the Roland D50, which was known for it's calliope's, steam whistles, and native dances (!).

Forgive the lack of keyboard chops -- I'M A DRUMMER DAMMIT!
