Echoplex Repair?

I missed the boat. I was going to send my Echoplex EP-3 to Kurt Pena for repair and since I waited so long I now find out that he has stopped repairing them and taken a corporate engineering job.

Who can you recommend for repair in the states to get my old unit up and running properly?

Thanks,
Michael Greene

the only boat you missed was one of frustration. kurt has had my space echo for four months and i haven't heard from him in two months. many emails and phone calls and he doesn't have the courtesy to get back in touch with me. i know what his website says but that doesn't excuse him from not getting in touch with me. if you find anyone to repair your echo unit let me know as i hope to send it somewhere else once i wrest it from his unresponsive hands.

You might be able to send it to Mike Battles in Akron Ohio. He invented the echoplex along with a friend of mine (Don Dixon). I will see if Mike still repairs them.

Wow. Sounds like he was going down hill for awhile then. Maybe I dodged a bullet.

Thanks for the heads up. If I figure anyone out I will let you know,

Please do and let me know. I sent him an email last night but couldn't tell how up to date the web page was. When I read an article I found last night it said the Mike was born in 1917. That would make him 89? I better hurry and get mine in

Doh!!! Your right. If I can't find someone who is used to fixing them I may go that route. My tech could probably do it but I would have to help him do a bunch of the legwork for parts and tape. I guess he could reload it but some of these techs now days are getting so lazy if they have to hunt down a bunch of "Off the wall" stuff.

Thanks Karl for the suggestion.

Kurt Pena

I live in Germany and sent my EP3 to Kurt when I was back in the States for Thanksgiving. He really gave me the runaround and never responded to my calls and mails. He then unexpectedly returned my EP3 to me in Berlin without a word. I guess he's not a crook but he is the world's worst communicator. I don't know where I'll try next. I googled "echoplex repair" and found www.cravendale.co.uk and www.orbitelectronix.com. Hopefully someone can make this thing happen!
