Fairchild 660 plugin - Bombfactory vs Universal Audio

Hey guys...
Is Digidesign/Bombfactory's version as good as UA's?
If not, is it still any good?

That would be for PT 7 on Mac.
As far as Bombfactory goes, I'm not shure whether the TDM version would actually be better than the RTAS as well.

Anyone used both?
Thanks...

The Bomb Factory version emulates the dark coloration of the original hardware unit.

The UAD plugs tend to offer a more "clean" sound IE generic.

As usual, all a matter of taste.

Yeah... I would have to disagree. Perhaps we have a been listening to a different fairchild though.

The one here in town that I rent occasially and my UAD-1 version are frighteningly close! When I tried the BF... the controls seemed to do the right thing... but the charcter wasn't completely right... at least to me.

Definitly.... JMTC....

I'd add the EMI/Chandler plug to the race. Allthough it doesn't simulate a tube-unit, it has a simular setup with timeconstant presets.
It has loads of character. My fave at the moment.

Other than that, the BF 660 is the only BF comp I've liked using.

I have both BF and UAD.
I like the UAD-1 version better.
The UAD stuff is better than BF, so I just installed a second UAD-1 card last night
