Music to the new Apple / Intel Commercial

I'm talking about the new ad with people in spacesuits.

Does anyone know who its by - its sounds very filmic. I've tried the usual sources, i.e Commercial Breaks and Beats and The Reel, but they don't list the composer.

By the way - Do you think maybe we've heard the last of that irritating Intel bong/sting sound?!? I reckon Apple said, ok, we'll use your chips, but there's no way where gonna have that f*cking sound in our commercials!!

The music on this ad is Moby - 'God moving over the face of the waters' (from 'Everything is Wrong')

Yeah, thats the one. So its Moby not Eno?

I'm not a huge fan of Moby as a composer (love what he represents tho). Just goes to show - you can't judge a piece of music on who its by.

Cheers,

Cheers,
I think some of Moby's older works are fine actually, but I don't like his more recent stuff either, seems like he found a simple commerical formula and keeps using it over and over again, without any interesting musical inventivity

and to be semi-off-topic, i think that's keifer sutherland doing the voice-over. he did the v.o. on a miller commercial i wrote the music for and since then i've heard his voice popping up on various other commercials.

Once I was watching a old Keifer movie re-run on tv. My friend called and asked if I wanted to go watch this real old couple that play at the dresden hotel, forget there name, so I stoped the movie and he came and picked me up... After we parked we were crossing the street and on the corner was a cafe' with tables outside and people eating a late dinner. I stood there and out of the corner of my eye I looked and there like 5 feet from me was keifer sutherland eating dinner with a lady (wife?). It was so surreal cause the outing had interupted a movie that he was in and 30 min. later...
now thats waaaayyyy off-topic :-)

Certainly sounds like him, but through my iBook's speakers, I can't be sure. I do lots of soundtracks for commercials too and nearly always go along to the dub - then I get to meet the VO artist and its good for client relations.

But, didn't Eno actually right the Intel bong bong bong bong song? Or was it the Windows start up chime?

you mean marty and elaine at the dresden. their rendition of muscrat love is pretty unique. i picked up the cd as a reminder of my visit to the dresden.

as for the commercial, i could have sworn it was the score for heat. ok, so maybe it is moby, and if so he must have been watching heat around the time he wrote that song since it's pretty damn similar. i'll have to put em up right next to each other to see just how close they really are (to see if my mind is playing tricks on me)

um... just to wrap up: the music in the apple intel commerical is Moby's "God Moving Over The Face of the Waters," from his "Everything Is Wrong" album, which was the end title music in the movie "Heat" (and also appears on his "I Like To Score" compilation).

same song, yes?

there was a nice little controversy for a bit about the commercial when it first came out: a bunch of people noticed that it looked very similar to a video for the Postal Service. There was a whole meme going around about how Apple had ripped off this indie video -- until it became known that they had, in fact, simply hired the directors, and had them do a remake!

Either way, there's something about those commercials that just makes me want one of those new Macs even more....

Apparantly every single track on 'Play' has been used on a TV commercial.
