| Lynx AES16 PCI card I just though that you all might be interested in this. It is a PCI card with 16 channels of AES i/o, and it looks to be a great solution for being able to use high quality converters at high sample rates with a native system. In my experience Lynx is a very cool company that makes great products. Thanks. http://www.lynxstudio.com/aes16.html

| Gear addict | Nice card! This thing can turn an old mac into a dedicated AES digital patchbay complete with SRC on 8 channels. Now we just need Spectrafoo for OS X and my dual 500 G4 will continue to have a home for many years to come. Notice that the Lynx AES16 supports XP or OS X only? FWIW, I had their LYNXOne card when it came out in late 90s and it absolutely rocked. Simple, streamlined driver with great sounding hardware. I ditched it along with my PC since they didn't support Mac at the time. ![]() |

| I switched to the Lynx cards earlier this year and absolutely love them. They sound fantastic (I use them instead of my Myteks, and sold my Apogee PSX-100se/AD-8000 se, for a frame of reference) and the drivers are rock solid. OS X Drivers are in beta right now, but XP drivers are solid as a rock. The Lynx cards are great. |

and i'll second what rob said about the drivers..but it does depend on the program...i use samplitude and sonar...sonar crashes when pushed hard(well it always used to) while samplitude is as stable as a brain dead patient in a str8 jacket..

| The AES16 card is shipping AFAIK... They are probably going to end up being one of the standard interfaces for the turnkey Sequoia rigs. So far, everything that Lynx has put out has been a pretty impressive piece of equipment. This is no different... The ability to go in with 16 channels of 192 in a single card (using the single-wire 192 interface). For native DAWs... Use your favorite high-end converters as you please. The Lynx2 is also a great sounding card. It is a bit pricey for a sound card, but considering the quality of the converters in it, I suppose it isn't too bad... Lynx has definitely figured out how to put great converters on a sound card. --Ben |
