The look, in many ways, is part of the sound.

I would say: FLEA.

Yes, you're right - and by the way, I love them, too.

Wunder, as far as I am aware, are built into bodies made by FLEA.

FLEA make mechanical kits that other manufacturers use to make their own microphones.

I am not sure which of the other major cloners use FLEA bodies.

every single mic mentioned gets their body from flea. they are the only company manufacturing these (except for tele usa. but they do not sell them on as far as i know). so i think we can all agree on flea.

I have no idea how they compare to Flea, but AMI U47 Kits and Parts offer U47 kits/parts. I've never heard or laid eyes on one of these kits, am not aware of any mfg using them, and therefore am not suggesting they do or do not belong in the 'best clone'. I'm simply responding to 'only'.

I do believe you are correct that all of the mfgs listed use the Flea 47 kit and that TeleUSA makes their own which they do not sell to other mfgs (but do sell parts).

Andreas told me that only the basket is from FLea and that he sources the other parts in Germany or has them made.
