If you're using proper 110 ohm AES cables, the max useable length is well over 100 feet...

Thanks Brad. Is 3 meters for SPDIF? Got 50 ft of 110 canare in today...trying to rig my HEDD to a D8B and a Masterlink for optimum usage without a patchbay. Figure I'll go D8B out AES to Hedd in AES. Hedd out AES to D8B...them I'll go SPDIF to masterlink and monitor that via the DAC 1 via AES out of the Alesis.

Decent gear will work with 100m [300+ feet] of AES/EBU cable and 15m/50+ feet of SPDIF.

Nah, I don't remember the normal limits, but with proper SPDIF cables (75 ohm), I know guys that have gone 75 feet before...

600 feet ... i was in one building and the deck was in another ...

no problems what so ever ...

now this is where the real record stands ...

3500 feet of BNC carrying timecode, video, audio, and communications ...

going in both directions to link the old and new convention centers in los angeles ...

all without a hitch or a hum or buzz ...

peace john
