When was the last time you recorded a GREAT tune?

It seems a lot of people are really focused on production techniques. My personal opinion is that the better the song, the less you need to **** with it.

So, when was the last time you recorded a really GREAT new original song, and can we hear it?

BTW - it doesn't matter if it's your song, but it has to be great!!! I'm talking 'could become a classic' type material.

Cheers!

Shaun

I've been told These tunes are GREAT! Though I serve many aspiring clients of all genres and ages @ my Brooklyn, NY project studio, they all seem to LOVE MY stuff!

Here ya go! Ofcoarse, YMMV!

I'm working up a new album and have about 18 sessions of which at 8 are potential candidates. These have all been in the last 6 months.

Nope you can't hear it yet, you'll have to wait for the album

Two years ago.

It was by a regional Southern Vermont jam band named Roswell Incident, and the tune was called "Annie No-No."

It was one of those cases where I realized after a little bit that my jaw was hanging open.

You can hear it in the second half of this podcast:

Reminded me all over again why I got into this business.

I happen to think the guy I'm playing with is a great song writer. Here's a few quick demo's we've done. The recordings aren't too shabby, just not polished to death.

i am pretty lucky, in that i get to work with alot of great young talent...i dont really do the day -to-day whoever pays me sessions anymore...too many years of that....i really just like making records with bands i like....so i gotta do other stuff to make $$$ sometimes....oh well...

here are a few of my most recent projects...all amazing young bands...makes my job "producing" them so easy...and a pleasure...

www.myspace.com/thestrangemusic song...texas

www.myspace.com/missilesilosuite song....both feet

Great songs? Everyday.

'Could become a classic'? Not yet.

To me a classic is something that will be as relavent to the next generation as it was to the one in which it was written. Select songs by the Beatles, Hendrix, Led Zeppelin--- Stevie, Prince, Tupac. Something that rises above the trend and sets a new standard.

I have been working with a couple of acoustic artists who write great songs, perform them well, and nail vocal takes first time out. I'm pretty lucky that the select projects I work on nights and weekends with are just that, select.

There's my FEA partner's brother, who is a poet / songwriter from Jersey and a voice so smooth and full of character it's amazing...added in with real storytelling? Incredible.

Jeff's Stuff can be heard here, which is about a 4 or 5 year old demo / scratch mixes. I played keys and drums on them.

There's a 17 year old high school student who is working on his stuff here, I've been recording him since he was 15. His songs are wonderful, inspired by his idol Edwin McCain. Very cool project.

I did not record the stuff on Bryson's site, he worked on that with Larry Chaney.

Hi

Jeff sounds great - he would be really good for live gigs too.

Bryson a talent for such a young guy. Really cool voice.
