2 sample rates - what should my ADC-1 do?

Hullo,

I own three Yamaha i88x and want to expand my current setup with a Benchmark ADC-1. Besides the 2 channel conversion I want it to clock my mLan network. So far, so good... As I use to do the mixdown on the analog side there is a decision to be made and I hope that some of you guys can give me the right hints.

For the tracking and sending out the stems to the console a sample rate of 48KHz is used and 88,2KHz for the 2-bus recording. Now where should I place the ADC-1 in such a mixdown situation, as long as I have only one of those units (another ADC-1 is planned but it will take e few month)?

A - Should it convert the 2-bus signal?

B - Should it be the master clock for the 16-32 stems (DA)? (in this case the 2-bus signal would be converted by another i88x)

C - Should it do both jobs at a single blow, whilst using one same sample rate for both stages. That means that I would have to use 44,1KHz (CD) for everything as I do not want to use 88,2KHz for the solo tracks, due to the CPU performance and for HD capacity reasons... Or I would have to convert the master track from 48KHz to 44,1KHz.

In fact I do not want to go back and miss the advantages of 48KHz over 44,1KHz while tracking and processing the solo signals. So what do you think promises the best results?

Thxxx for any comments
