| Gear nut | Joe Meek Fathead: any users/lovers/haters?
So I just sort of inherited a Joe Meek Fathead, seemingly a 1U channel strip designed primarily for use as a guitar preamp/compressor. Oddly (to me anyway) in addition to a 1/4" instrument in, it also has balanced XLR in and 1/4" line ins on the back. My guitar rig doesn't need this thing, so I'm thinking it may find a niche in my little home studio. It'll be a few days before I have a chance to play with it. In the meantime, can anyone shed any light on possible uses. I'm still compressor-poor, and would love to hear somebody say the Fathead makes a great bass DI/compressor/EQ. Or not. Thanks in advance. |
