KRK Rokit 6's Or Rokit 5's Both G2

I've been given the option to choose between some KRK Rokit 6's G2 for $200 (thats a pair for $200) or A pair of KRK Rokit 5's G2 for $175 (MAYBE I can get it down to $150)

Which is the better option, I was introduced to these monitors on Tweakheadz, but I remember Tweak mentioning he thought the G6's were the worst out of the bunch. However I've heard terrible things about the RP8's. I'll be in a small, untreated room. I'll eventually move into a house that will be treated, but for now, thats the situation. I hear the RP5's lack alot of bass, but no one seems to buy the 6's much for me too see too many reviews.

Anyways, whats you guys opinion?

Although I am not a fan of either monitor, I would go for the RP6's in this case as the RP5's are lacking more low end.

At the end of the day, I believe your remit here is to make music, not find a set of mastering quality monitors, so the RP6's will be fine.

Sound on Sound (a magazine I respect) did not hate them either, although, you can never trust mag reviews fully!!

I have a pair of the 5's (gen 1), and I thought the midrange was a bit better than the 6's. They are lacking in the low end but not enough to sacrifice the difference (4hz lower on the 6's).

With my mixes I thought if I could get the enough bass out of the RP5's to balance the mix I was doing okay, and that's where the advantage was for them for me.

I did add an RP10s sub for more bass but I find myself disconnecting it while tweaking the low (not sub low) end of a mix.

Just my $0.02, YMMV.
