Pictures of Radiohead in recording studio

Here are some cool pics of Radiohead recording their follow-up to Hail to the Thief.

No Nigel on this record. I'm anxious to hear how this will turn out. I've always thought Nigel had a huge impact on their songs.

Nice find man. Are you sure Nigel's not involved though? That would surprise me.. he's pretty much like a member of that band. I love what he brings.

Maby, but a well is round in construction meaning that you don't get any flat reflective surfaces exept the bottom. An elevator shaft has four almost equal reflektive sufaces + top and bottom. I think you howerer will get a good reverb out of both of them!

The round shape of a well theorically has an infinate number of parallel surfaces... It is possibly the only thing worse than a cubed room other than a sphere...

not that it matters for a reverb chamber, i've heard people say standing waves are a good thing.

I liked the "drum machine" link at the bottom... pretty cool.

Standing waves are pretty essential for creating reverb.

I often feel bad about my studio clutter, but that picture of the drum kit made me feel better. I also thought it was interesting that there were no toms set up with the kit.

This should be an interesting record . . . as much as I love Nigel's work with Radiohead, Stent is a fantastic talent, and a really unexpected combination with Radiohead. I'm thrilled they're working together.

Of course its my opinion. I dont get paid to post anyone elses. Im a big fan of rock and roll and not techno noodling. OK Computer is one of my top albums ever though...and Yorke has the voice of an Angel.

I know it was your opinion, I was just stating mine by opposing yours ;-)

It's funny, opinions about Radiohead are so varied. Someone a few posts back said that they haven't beaten creep -- and my feelings are the opposite -- everything after creep was good, but creep (and all of pablo honey) was awful.

I do feel like OK Computer is still their best, but honestly, I bloody dig the KidA/ammesiac stuff... and hail to the thief is even better. This followup sure is going to be interesting.

(PS, messaged you about the cables)

this strikes me as a bad sign, but hey, what the hell do i know. i hope he does not get all protools on this thing....

all the godrich stuff goes from "interesting" to straight up beautiful. and all of it rich with analog aided mojo.

either way, this is still the most interesting big time band around. to me anyway...

I think every one of Radiohead's records serve a different purpose. If you're always wanting the same thing, they're not the band that's going to make you happy. There are plenty of bands who don't evolve for one reason or another. I love just about everything they've done starting with The Bends. And it's sooo much more than techno.

then again, it's not a good idea to argue about art.

This is interesting by the way:
Quote:
As of August 2006, the band had apparently finished their sessions with Stent and is beginning work again with their longtime producer Nigel Godrich, though it is unknown whether material produced by Stent will also end up on the final mix of the album, likely due in 2007.

Taken from Nigel Godrich's bio on Wikipedia:

"According to recent band statements, Godrich is now working with the band again on Radiohead's seventh album, following their aborted recording sessions with mixer Mark "Spike" Stent."
