different flavor in a preamp/channelstrip?

Hi there!

I'm looking for a channelstrip or preamp with a different character to complement a VoxBox and a C.I.B. (2 already very different sonic worlds).
A distinctive color/personality would be very welcome.
Flexibility in the connections and the option to use the compressor and/or EQ sections separately during mixdown would definitely be a plus.
Tubes or solid state, I don't care.
Should be usable on all kinds of sources, but still have some "mojo" of its own. Mostly rock/electronica.

Any suggestions?

Seems to me you got "tubes" and "clean" well covered so now you need "in your face". I'd say an API channel (or lunchbox) should be your next step.

I am also complementing my Voxbox and testing a Portico 5032 and a Chandler LTD-1.
API might be another option. I will take my decision very soon and I will let you know.

Which mics do you use ?

Bump

I'm sure there must be more alternatives.

As far as separating out access to the different elements within the single channel uint, the only thing I know of that can do that is the Pendulum Quartet II. If there's anyting else that works this way, it's something I've never used.
