I just bought a Mytek... it's the "transparency" that sold me

I like the idea not coloring my sound the same way every time I hit the convertor. I've got plenty of gear/plugs for that, and I prefer to have a choice.

I'm planning on another 2 Rosetta 800's to go with the one I have and then maybe if I get enough work through the studio I'll look into a Lynx Aurora 16 for patching in more outboard to the PC.

Actually i am going backwards and i think i will buy an analog tape machine for a couple of special productions.

I miss the sound lately and to do an all analog production(which i haven't done in years) seems interesting and challenging to me right now.

The goal will be to keep it analog all the way till the end.

Oh... this is about digital converters right?

If i had the dough the latest Lavry Gold.

mytek, lynx

has lynx and mytek come out with newer improved products. I agree that transparency should be key with AD/DA, you color to the sound so many other way already. BTW I will only need to track two tracks at a time. Which Mytek and lynx are the model to get. What about the apogee? I heard good things about UA , anyone?

I won't get any new converters this year... I probably won't for a long time - and the reason is that last year was the year of the Benchmarks for me.
DAC1 and ADC1 both sound really great - and look great in the rack too...

I just have to decide on which preamp I should get when I can afford to update that part too...

Possibly the new Echo Audiofire12 stuff, I had the pleasure of living with one for a while and they are very nice.

Has anyone tried the Benchmark converters?? A pro engineer friend I really respect is recommending them. Has anyone out there tried them?

Thanks!

Well - I use them, as you can see a couple of posts earlier...
I've used the DAC1 for about a year - and the ADC1 for just a short while. I'm not that used to real hi-end, so I only have much experience from RME and (do I dare to mention...) Behringer...
Those Benchmarks are by far the best I've used in my small experience of more expensive stuff - and I'd recommend them to anyone. The DAC1 really made a change for my monitoring (ADAM P33A and Sub-10) - and it felt like I lifted another blanket when it replaced monitoring through the DDX3216... The ADC1 is a bit pricey, but damn! it's good.
