System reset on Akai S6000

Can anybody tell me how to do this??? It would really help me out.

My problem is that I have two identical S6000 & Kurzweil PC88 setups & when I load in identical samples programs and multis on both (using AK.SYS) one works (ie when I go to MULTI and hit a key I get sound) and the other makes no sound even though I am getting MIDI to the sampler.

I have tried a system reset on the Kurzweil and that didn't help.

Could it be that one sampler is on V2.12 & the other is on V2.14??? Surely not?

I will be forever gratfeul to the person who can help me out???

All of this info is on the Akai website in the manuals. There are also specific pdfs that tell you how to update the OS. I think.

If you can't find it in the manuals, let me know and I'll check out my S6000. I'm not an expert, I'm a newbie, but I found most everything I needed to know in the manuals on the Akai website.

Hi Neil,

iF one s6k is 2.12 and the other is 2.14 I don't think that will be the problem, the OS was pretty smooth by the ime it got to these late version numbers. The only thing I can think of is in the preferences. Check the machine that doesn't play to the machine that does, is it clocked the same way (or not) and so forth.
Also, another really obvious one (but can be missed sometimes) is to check that the volume knob is turned up on the front panel (this will only affect output 1+2 I think).

Hope this helps.

Peace
Dave
