Small drum room advice

Hi all,

I have a small drum room 9x18 with a 7 ' 3/4 ceiling. It is carpeted and has 6 acoustic panel. I've use it for drums and been getting good results, nice tones but just a little boxy sounding. I just pull out all the acoustic panels tonight and, wow, what a difference..much more open sounding room.
Anyways, i was wondering if pulling out the carpet and installing a wood floor would make it acoustically even better. Thanks.

You could run into flutter echo problems with such a short ceiling. I'd live with it for a while and see if you still think more things need to be done to the room or not.

Rip out the carpets, kill the ceiling (broadband absorbtion) and bass trap the hell out of the place.
