recognizing muddyness in bass

Hey,

I make EDM, and i've got a couple songs ready arrange-wise. Still needs mixing and mastering though.

I'm looking for tips on how to be able to know if my bass is too muddy/unclear/etc. I have cms65's. Would i be able to hear if they are muddy on those? (loud volume?). or do i need heaphones? (ive got ultrasone 900).

Same quesion about how i would know if bass and kick are clashing.. is there some kind of que i need to look for?

tnx!

First, you should always be monitoring in multiple sources...mons, phones, car speakers, computer speakers, etc...all of these combined will really help you see what's
going on. (a sub also helps a LOT)

The best way to figure it out is to listen to it honestly...you can shave out room in the
kick to make room for the bass and roll off the bass so that it does not compete with
the kick any further.

The cue to look for is: "Can I hear the separation between my kick and bass?"...if you can't you need to pinpoint the issue. It's hard to say anything without hearing
anything...
