attenuate vox in a stereo file?

Hello, I have a stereo file of a live band recording in which for some reason the vocals are much too loud. Is there any way to attenuate the vocals on pre mixed material? Any magic plugs that can help with this?

Try a M/S Limiter and bring the mid down while accentuating the sides.

Good solution.
Or you could use a combination of Fabfilter Pro-Q and Pro-C. Both can be used in m/s mode, hence you can use the Pro-Q to bring down the dominant frequencies of the vocal in the middle (you can even use the built-in analyzer to precisely focus in on the frequencies) and use the Pro-C to compress the middle and bring up the sides.

Good luck!
