From Prepal:

SDE-3000 $479 68

Both that and the Korg SDD-3000 are classics if you like that sort of thing.....(i do!!!!!)

Echo farm and PSP's PCM-84 (???) would be the closest plugs but IMHO, I'd trade the easily syn'd delay time for the hardware units. I wouldn't wait too long if they're going cheap.

I have 2 SDE-1000's that I use in my guitar rig. I love the sound of them. Very musical.

They rock!! I've never met a plugin nor 'multi-FX' processor that comes close. I especially like them in "X2" mode.

If you don't pick them up... lemme know!?!?!?!

The do only one thing. They are large, very long (need a long rack to house them), put off lots of heat, old, and one of the best delays out there.

And Fletcher likes 'em.

Yep... they Rock!
I do a lot of concert recordings/mixes... Always use it!
Get a tap-peddle (?) to tap the delay times...
(I keep the X2 option for those few moment in a concert where you really 'need' to delay big... )

Hey... some people call me "chief delay" because I'm addicted to the SDE-3000.
(wich is btw a lot better sounding than the 2000 in my opinion)

A few years back I was going through all the old gear I had laying around and was cleaning house.....I found an old 6 space rack that I had stored away and forgot about. In it were my old SDE-3000, an old SPX-90 and a GrooveTubes guitar pre. I sold it all for *()%##2#@1!! And I LOVED that delay...I still have the SDE1000's for the guitar.(2) someone kick me.

A word of caution with the Roland SDE and early SRV2000 reverb stuff, they get damn hot, so keep them well ventilated, I've seen many a dead one due to it cooking and the power supply burns up.

how does the SDE-3000 compare to the SDE-1000 soundwise? Your subjective opinions?

I've got a couple SDE-1000s and would have to agree with Meriphew's opinion on them.

A true classic from the 80's. Along with the TC 2290 and PCM 42, this was the premier delay box at the time. Great build quality (especially from Roland) it uses all discrete opamps for the signal path. Keep in mind there are around 50 electrolytic caps in there that will need to be replaced.

Does the SDE-3000 accept 240V and 120V at the same time? Or are there different versions on the market, whether 120V OR 240V?

I think they sound very similar (if not the same)- The 1000 was from the same series with less delay times, 4 delay memories, and slightly different controls.

I used to use the 3000 with guitar, now use a 1000.
