LOL. I c wut u did thar!

My suggestion for books was a bit more along the lines of "all your questions are in that particular book or books" Besides...he would benefit from supplemental reading AS he's jumping into it. So any questions he has that may pop up he could reference in the book and if he can't find it in the book, THEN come here and ask us :D.

Modern Recording Techniques is where the OP should begin his venture.

I agree...........

I was big on Tweakheadz stuff for a quick shot of early guidance.

I say if the OP truly wants to learn and do this, he needs to start simple and put his
nose in the books ALONG with practical application...Especially if the OP is not planning on any type of schooling.

So here's what I'll suggest to the OP.

1. Microphone: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SM58/ for vocals to start

2. Interface: PreSonus AudioBox USB | Sweetwater.com This comes with your conversion AND recording software...Honestly all recording software pretty much works the same just that each one offers a different type of workflow. The extreme basics are as follows:

Connect via USB, install drivers + Studio One, run through set up with mic connected.

3. Monitors: M-Audio Studiophile AV 40 | Sweetwater.com

Pair the above with Modern Recording Techniques OP and you'll be on your way
to learning and understanding the wonderful (and painful...TERRIBLY PAINFUL jk) world of album production!
