Internal Mic suggestions for acoustic guitar?? to Mix w/ Piezo

Hey guys,
I play out a lot more than I record at home. The Preamp outputs for the piezo pickup under the bridge sound good, but I really want to mix in a mic with it for a fuller sound.

My biggest pet peive is I really love recording my shows, but I move around the stage a lot and a placement mic doesnt work too good when im 5 feet from it. And the peizo sucks to record, its a thin signal in comparison.

On the plus side I have an Alvarez with a 600-T MK II preamp that has an AUX input and seperate gain knob for another pickup/mic. So it would be great to mix in another mic. The mic mixing bypasses the preamps EQ. I think thats a silly idea personally, but oh well.

Some tell me this preamp provides phantom power to that second mic jack (1/8").. I dont know how true it is. I've plugged a few powered condensors in to fool around, and they worked good. but they were VERY poor quality mics..

Im looking for some ideas as to what I could use for a good mic in this aplication. And also Ideas of the best placement inside of the body of the guitar.. Do you think I could get away with a dynamic mic? Or should I stock with a condensor?

Thanks!
Josh

There are numerous internal condenser mics available designed for use in an acoustic guitar. All of them are electret condensers, most of which use Sony OEM capsules. All require between 6v and 15v "T" (aka bias) power to operate. I don't think your Alverez barn door unit provides that power, but I might be wrong. I use a Joe Mills internal mic. Placement is usually near the soundhole, pointing up and out.

You might consider the Fishman Aura or D-TAR Mama Bear. These are mic modelers. Not bad for live applications. I give the nod to Mama Bear.
