A good 8-channel pre-amp?

I am a foolish person for asking this question but are there any options out there to rival the presonus and focusrite 8-channel pre-amps in the £500-£1000 category?

I don't have more to spend than this and i'm not looking to rent before anyone suggest this

I know that TL Audio do a 4 channel rack affair, what is this like, i've no experience of TL stuff.

I'll be using the pre-amps for recording drums and even jazz bands on location in the future so versatility and transpancy as oppossed to warmth would be good.

How about a small console like the 12 channel Soundcraft? That'll give you a few busses too in case you need to combine a few mics to one track. The True System P8 is nice and neutral, some call it boring or accurate. I didn't hear it getting in the way. The Presonus stuff isn't bad, the MP20 I had was lacking headroom for dynamic stuff like toms but always did OK in that regard on guitars and stuff. Still, the True is better but it's also more money. A pair of Sytek's might be a good option for about $2K USD.

I second the CLM too. Made in the UK, so decent price, and available at Digital Village

I third the CLM Dynamics. DB8000s. Ask for it by name. Or just do a quick search.
