What's up with the Mach5 for PT's?

Any thoughts on this one. Has anyone heard or played with it yet?

Thanx

M2E,
I'd be interested in this aslo. Being able to run 24 bit/192 khz across HTDM is a very attractive sampling option. I had a sitmilar experience when I was considering the old SampleCell product. A friend of mine did a comparison of the quality of SampleCell vs. his MPC3000 and the SampleCell won out handsdown! At the time I myself was even considering retiring my trusty and faithful MPC in favor of the SampleCell product. The only drawback at that time was that I would need to convert my entire sample library over to SD format and I did not have the time to do that so I stay in the MPC box. Now the Mach 5 changes everything. Imagine being able to load 24bit/192 samples from just about every format known to man( no conversion necessary) by just dragging and dropping samples from my hard drive. Now that's dope! The only concerns I'd have would be how appare nt any latency would be. Other than that, my MPC may just turn into a stand alone sequencer. Although the sampling options sound very attractive I would be afraid to loose the mythical "feel" of the MPC's sequencer. How about you?

I've been waiting to jump in to the soft sampler game until I hear the Mach5 myself. If the resource allocation, library conversion, and latency are all acceptable, it beats the hell out of dedicating a system to a Giga, especially considering their rate of update since being acquired by Tascam. It may be a case of wait and see, though, since I think HDD streaming is still a "to be added" feature.
