He'll be missed.
He came out here three years ago and I was supposed to go see him, but I didn't. I seriously regret that.
What a legend. I believe he was 98 when he passed.

RIP.

Sad day. Just Sunday, a friend was talking about jamming and talking with Perkins at Buck's in LaPorte, Ind.

We always said, when Pinetop passes, a lot is passing with him.

I had the pleasure of running sound for Pinetop back in 1997 at my house gig in Santa Monica "The Ashgrove".

If I recall correctly it was a New Years Eve gig and Pinetop and the band were sloshed. Things were not going well musically onstage so Don Was graciously stepped up out of the crowd and thru a P bass round his neck and got the band to tighten up.

Thank you Don and RIP Pinetop,

Got to spend Pintop's 88th at his house in Indiana. A bunch of musicians and friends bought him a piano by "buying" a key each.
He played a gig that night at Buck's but only after an obligatory stop at McDonald's on the way there.
My favorite thing was that he had an old station wagon parked at the house preloaded with his fishing gear so he wouldn't have to miss an opportunity!
He also wasn't much for full names, so I became "Motorcycle Mike" that day.
Talent and legend aside, he was a very gracious man. He will be missed...
