1st Time Selling on Ebay. What to look out for?

I've heard many of stories of people getting ripped off on ebay.

I'd rather not add my name to that list!

What is the best way to sell gear on there and stay safe?

For seller protection and your item is under $250, you need delivery confirmation proof(usps or ups etc.) If your item is over $250 you need sig. delivery proof for protection.

If you are just starting stay away from shipping outside the lower 48 united states. I send to canada sometimes but anywhere else you leave your self open to risk. Plus you have to deal with customs. Not worth it to me, plus their are so many buyer in the US, why do it.

Shipping insurance depends on the item. If its over $250 I get it, but thats just me. I also offer 7 day or money back on returns(buyer pays shipping) This has helped me sell many items!!!!

If a buyer is upset try to make them happy. One time a buyer was mad about a sticking button on a $500 vs 1880 I sold. I offered to give him $25 for his troubles and he was happy as could be and kept the item. Go figure?

Do not ship to anywhere but the confirmed paypal address.

Also do not take offers outside of ebay.

Just use commen sense.

Is easy. When Selling just say in your ad you reserve the right to cancel bids from buyers with no feedback. Just look how many buys/sells a bidder has and look at their feedback.

I just use paypal and most other legitimate people will use paypal and pay you through this service.

You will be fine, just remember they do take 9% and a max of 50 dollars per sale. Then paypal takes money out too, but their rate varies.

Good luck

+1,000,000

I sold a moog voyager for $2300 on the bay and sent it via a pak and ship place. Although we told them to put signature required they did not. Fedex dropped off a moog voyager on someones open front patio! It was in the orginal packaging that said Moog Voyager real big and a lifesize picture of the keyboard on the box. I would have stole that thing myself if I'd seen it. I sweated for 2 days before customer left feedback on the sale. He could have esily said he never got it or it was stolen from the patio. I was seriously freaked out. Don't think these pak'n'ship people are not morons! I had been talking to them about $3000 in insurance and they still put no sig required! Triple check this, The one little checkbox can save alot of stress.

Yea, sell only to ebay users with positive feedback (more than 5 buys is good also).
Make sure its insured and signature required is a must. Check your postel receipt to
make sure they added it before leaving.
