Thread Starter | A good price on a vintage U67?
Hi.
Is 3500 a good price for an unmodified, well maintained vintage Neumann U-67? I can't seem to find others for sale to compare price, but what I read from earlier posts it seems like the average price is way higher...

Yes, it's a good price. Not incredible, but really good. Thus... beware ! Test the thing.

There was a pair stolen recently in New Zealand. So beware. They did not steal the power supplies though. Dumb ass criminals. : (
That does seem low...or maybe I would just like to think that I would get more than that when I decide to sell mine. : )

Test it before you buy it, but don't let a good deal pass you buy. It's not like someone is going to find a warehouse of these things, so they are only going to become less available and more expensive.

It looks perfect and has the original powersupply intact. It is located in a different country so I can't try it. I will not submit link because I'm afraid some other bloke will snatch it:-)
I haven't tried this things, but I have tried several other Neumanns; CMV 563, U87, UM57, U47 so I am familiar... I can get 2 vintage U87's for almost the same price and I am kind of leaning towards that....
So my next question would be 2 U87's or 1 U67?

$3500 for an unmolested U67 in good working condition is not just a good price, it's a steal.

When a deal is to good to be true, that's usually what it is.

Yeah....out of the Country....I'd almost bet 3500 it doesn't show up after payment...there's a guy in the uk who's advertising stuff all the time for too cheap and it's an obvious scam....be real smart and careful about the purchase. Ask for picture I'd....photo of the mic with the I'd and a dated newspaper. And even a escrow acct for purchase.

Thread Starter | This is not the same mic. The mic I am talking about is promoted with pictures of the inside, outside and the PSU. Here is one of the pictures. ImageShack® - Online Photo and Video Hosting
But would one have two U87's (tempting) or one U67? I can't afford all three...

I just paid $6000 for one in really good shape (capsule totally clean, body has no dents and grill was a 9 out of 10) and recently serviced.
it didnt come with the original power supply, but instead had a new power supply and 30 ft. cable built by bill bradley at the mic shop.
it works perfectly and sounds fabulous.
i called Vintage King before i bought it to see what they wanted for the beat up T funk badged U67 on their site and they said $8200, which i thought was CRAZY!
i would take 1 U67 over 2 U87's any day.

You can't find a U67's for sale? Well, Vintage King have 3 right now, one telefunken badged for $8250 and a consecutive pair for $18950.
Also you can find here in GS a beautiful one for $7500: http://www.gearslutz.com/board/gears...condition.html
Madooma just sold one recently for $7000
And very often, "Vintage Tones" puts refurbished U67's for sale on ebay in the $7500 - $8000 range.
So honestly, there's something wrong with this sale, sounds like scam to me, be careful, and if you take the risk and succeed, let us know.
Pastor.

Sorry, couldn't keep it shut. | Damn! Just missed it! I'm only 8 years too late on this one. Oh well, better luck next time ...

67 are going more in the 6500 to 7k range. Search completed items on ebay that gives you an idea of global street prices on any used gear. I would be careful with anyone selling a 67 for $3500. Sounds like a scam.
