Thread Starter | Yamaha Hs50m vs NS10m
Have any slutz had time to test the two side by side OR does anyone own a pair and have an opinion on hs50m's. The last post on these on here was a while back so im wondering if people have had chance to properly test them out now. Im looking for a set of reference speakers to compliment my main monitors and have heard these are pretty close to ns10's. The advantage of them over the Ns10m's from what i can tell is that they are self powered and have eq switches as well, plus the fact they are brand new and are cheaper than a pair of second hand ns10's. Thoughts please! |

| I think MSP10 is better
I think MSP10 might be the best speakers that Yamaha ever made for 8 inch system. I found it better than both HS80M and NS10M. however it's a bit pricy and heavy (20KG). NS10M- 7KG HS80M- 11KG. |

I have a pair of HS50m's as secondary reference monitors. Although I've never had the opportunity to test them against NS10's I can tell you that they have pretty similar characteristics. They are both mid heavy average sounding speakers that reveal volumes about your mix, especially when you main monitors are JBL 6208's. Since I only use them to check mixes and levels I can't say I have any strong feeling about them one way or another but I do know that my mixes sound better on car stereos and Ipods because of them. Actually checking mixes on an iPod is a great way to test mixes as well. |

The HS50M are some pretty nice speakers. Ages ago since I last heard the Ns10 - but they have a similiar characteristic. Mid forward, not too much bass and nice transient response. They are great for setting up levels in a mix while I wouldn't EQ on them. I use the HS50M and a pair of Avantones as my final mix check - they work!
