Yamaha PM2000 EQs PLEASE EXPLAIN

I'm about to buy a Yamaha pm2000. I know lots about the board and I want to use it for mixing. The only thing I have read that I wish for people to explain is the eq section. I have heard that it's not that great. Can anyone explain this? Can they be modded to be usable?

I've never heard the console or the eq but I saw that JLM audio has a mod kit for the eq's on the pm2000,check out his site for it.

Hi I have a few channels of this board. Basically the stock EQ has a very high Q (narrow band width). So it could be interpretted as un-musical compared to some other EQs. Having said that, of the four channels I have, I've left two stock and two with the mod kit. Why? Because narrower Q values are better for surgical EQ repair of signals.

I haven't had these for long and the pre-s are excellent, but I haven't given the EQs a run for their money yet. So.. I can't comment further.

I can send you EQ curve results though if you'd like. PM me.

Jules
