Reamp or Red Eye.. Red Eye or Reamp?

Okay, anyone ever try both?

I can bet most folks around here are using the Red Eye but the Reamp site says "...other manufacturers have decided to jump on the bandwagon with their own version of the Reamp. Because the Reamp was granted a U.S. patent they are forced to "work around" the patent with questionable results."

fuuck

Sounds like marketing BS to me.

Anyway, has anyone around here used both? Which is better?

Thanks!

Cool. I have a TAB V71DI so I am all set on the DI front but that is a good thing to keep in mind.

So anyone else have a take on this? Anyone ever use both?

Sorry, I can't say i've used both, but I've never had 'questionable results' with ANY of the Little Labs products, let alone the Red Eye. Jonathan takes his work much too seriously...

I'm with you on the BS factor. And as was mentioned before, it makes a great passive DI as well!

Cheers,
john

Redeye question-

So you're tracking guitar and you plug the guitar into the instrument in, Line out to your DAW in. what jack do you send out to your amp, POD whatever? Re-amp out?

Thanks,

mike

I don't have the Redeye, but I own the IBP. It has XLR line out, instrument thru and re-amp out, and the original instrument signal is routed to both, instrument thru and re-amp, at the same time(which makes it a great guitar splitter, too). I assume the Redeye works similar.

Instrument thru (1/4" jack on the back side) ... I didn't realize you can use it as a splitter as well (using the re-amp jack)... I'll give it a go sometime...

I have been using an IBP as a reamp, and it works great! I just picked up a Radial X-Amp yesterday, and will be putting it through its paces within the next couple of days. Marketing BS? Not sure, but the results I have been getting are top-notch.

I'm a big fan of Little Labs, though I don't have the Redeye. I've got the IBP and the PCP Inst Distro...oh and the cably one. I find new ways to use them every day...each Little Labs piece seems to be a 'Swiss Army knife' unto itself. Build quality is excellent IMO and the sounds I get from them seem good and true.

Double Helix-

Definitely let us now how the Radial works out; the option of feeding 2 amps is good.

Little Labs suggest that you only use the Red Eye as a splitter when used together with an active DI. That makes sense - it's passive, so you would load your pickup too much if connected directly.

I'm realizing that I have my redeye wired in so that the split on the DI -- the jack on the back -- is normaled to a buffer, which is routed to my live room. I should reverse this. Buffer>Redeye>send to live room. Right?
