Thread Starter | Dumb Question? Best sample rate for pop song! ?
Using guitar amps, Rhode Nt2a, Blue Sky (monitors) and Mackie 400F. I guess I am asking for pop songs, music demos, is 44.1 fine, or better to go higher than dither down? Thanks! |

Its always better to go higher but the real question you need to ask yourself is whether or not your system can take the extra strain? 96 K means you,ll only get half as many plugs as 44.1 plus you,ll be using more than double the drive space and taxing your memory ,hard disk and c.p.u. to a greater degree. I say **** it 44.1. k is cool unless you're going Neumann into Neve via manley and cranesong into a rack of hard drives and dual processor setup with dsp cards a plenty. Just engineer the recordings well, beat a good performance out of the band and the sound will take care of itself.

48k... the difference over 44.1 is substantial, but the dsp penalty is almost non-existent. the next step up, 88.1, is a tiny improvement that sucks the cpu dry. gregoire del ubik |
